Abstract

The interdisciplinary dialogue between Psychology and Veterinary Medicine is still innovative, given the scarcity of existing scientific publications that address the relationship between the two areas. Contributions of psychology on mourning, non-violent communication and the development of an expanded look at the tutor can make a difference in the quality of life and practice of the professional in veterinary medicine. The present work discusses the permanent education in health for undergraduates of veterinary medicine and the offer of psychological duty for tutors in a veterinary hospital unit, through activities developed in the internship of psychology with emphasis on processes of prevention and health promotion. In academics, intellectual, physical and emotional exhaustion, combined with fears such as poor pay or the unpredictability of the future of the career in the face of possible unemployment, makes the training process fearful, generating anxiety. Psychology presents itself as fundamental to promote health in university students and to train them as professionals capable of dealing with euthanasia, mourning, palliative care and with the expectations that the tutor can place on them. Not knowing how to deal with such challenges can make the work of the veterinarian an aggravating factor for your mental illness.
