Abstract

This article aims to analyze the effects of racism on the health-disease-care processes of the black population in old age. This is a systematic literature review (SLR) based on Brazilian journals indexed in the Virtual Health Library (VHL) over the last ten years (2011-2021). The research took place between August and November 2022 following the PRISMA protocol, indicated for carrying out RSL-type scientific research. The material found points to a predominant convergence about the notable disadvantages that the black elderly face in relation to the white in the most diverse contexts of life, especially with regard to access to health services. Despite this, it is clear that there is, in the analyzed productions, an invisibility of the generational factor, which denotes a death policy on this population. It is intended, with the problematization of this issue, to contribute to the construction of a field of public health that is more involved with the fight against social inequalities and with the integral care of this population, especially with regard to mental health.
