Abstract

This article analyzed, based on the theory of social representations and evocation of words, descriptors of the Course Completion Papers (CBT's) developed in the specialization course for the then More Doctors Program. A total of 2,577 CBTs were included, produced by physicians who were specialising in primary care at UNA-SUS/UFMA, resulting in 7,731 descriptors analyzed. All descriptors submitted to lexicographic harmonization according to the descriptors in health sciences (DeCS). The data were examined with the EVOC® software using the four-quadrant Vergés technique, and a minimum evocation frequency of 2 was established, and a cutoff point is half the frequency of the most frequent form. The descriptor "Hypertension" represented the term of greatest importance mentioned. In the peripheral nucleus 3, it can be observed that "Diabetes Mellitus", "Pregnancy" and "Adolescent health", also appear as important issues in the context of Primary Care. In the other nuclei of the peripheral system it can be noted that there are several descriptors that represent frequent situations, but less important for the subjects.
