The research sought to investigate the impact of drug use and concomitant disorders on the mental health of adolescents in conflict with the law deprived of liberty in compliance with socio-educational measures at the Centro de Assistência Intensivo Belford Roxo (CAI-Baixada). A total of 27 individuals participated in the study, randomly selected from the list of interns by the Institution's monitors, according to availability and invited to participate in the research. These were assessed for drug use disorders with self-administered instruments that consisted of: i) questionnaire on sociodemographic variables, ii) application of the Alcohol, Smoking and Substance Involvement Screening Test (ASSIST), iii) application of the Beck Inventory of Depression (BID), and iv) application of the Beck Suicidal Ideation Scale (BSI). The population studied had a mean age of 16.48 years; 92.6% have black/brown skin color; 70.37% attended between the 5th grade of Elementary School I and the 9th grade of Elementary School II; most were serving a socio-educational measure of deprivation of liberty for the first time; 44.44% consumed alcoholic beverages throughout the day; 40.74% have depressive symptoms; 25.92% with a history of ideation; 11.11% have already attempted suicide. Young people with psychoactive substance use problems face a high risk of co-occurring mental health problems, something that can involve a more difficult life situation, social problems, as well as worse results in compliance with socio-educational measures.
