Resistance is a universal, impersonal and unconscious phenomenon. It only works in one direction: from the bottom up, that is, when the person is undertaking an action of personal, psychological, spiritual development. Resistance manifests itself in countless ways, always contrary to human development. This is what happens in the Jonas complex. Taking Transpersonal Psychology as a theoretical framework, with an emphasis on the Transpersonal Integrative Approach, composed by Dr. Vera Saldanha, this article aims to demonstrate how Resistance can be used in favor of self-realization work. The methodology adopted was qualitative research, specifically the literature review. The result of the work shows that, if well understood, Resistance can be used in favor of the process of self-realization, both by the therapist, in his clinical practice, and by the common man, in his personal work.
