Because it is a chronic disease, nursing interventions in patients with asthma are aimed at controlling symptoms and improving quality of life. Therefore, it is essential that nurses are able to detect changes in the respiratory system early in order to implement adequate nursing care. This study aims to describe the importance of respiratory semiology in patients diagnosed with asthma. This is an Integrative Literature Review (RIL) that adopted the PICO strategy to formulate the guiding question. The research was carried out between April and May 2023 in the Virtual Health Library (VHL) in the LILACS, SciELO and BDENF databases by crossing three Health Descriptors (DeCS). 1,585 were found, of these 20 articles were selected to compose the final sample. After carrying out this study, it was noticed the applicability of respiratory semiology in the care of patients with asthma and it constitutes an important tool that helps in the diagnosis, effective treatment, control of symptoms, improvement of quality of life and prevention of complications.
