The prescription of psychotropic drugs has increased significantly in recent years, and this class of medication is currently one of the most prescribed for the treatment of mental disorders. This study aims to identify the strategies used by nurses in the management of psychotropic drugs in Primary Care. This is an integrative literature review in which the search was carried out in the Virtual Health Library in the COCHRANE, CINAHL, MEDLINE/PUBMED, SCOPUS, LILACS and Web of Science databases. Nine articles published in periodicals published without a time frame in English, Portuguese and Spanish were analyzed. The studies showed strategies that encompass comprehensive care for mental health users in primary care. Thus, four categories were listed to enable the understanding of this event: Therapeutic interpersonal relationship; Co-management of medication; Itinerant practices in mental health and Matrix support between mental health services. It is concluded that the management of psychotropic drugs in primary care by nurses is present in comprehensive mental health care.
