Abstract

The Go Zika Go Workshop is an initiative to train human resources on early motorized mobility and modification of toy cars for children with Congenital Zika Syndrome (CZS). It is a descriptive study on the extension activities carried out during the Go Zika Go Workshop, which was conducted free of charge in a hybrid format, over three days, and involved theoretical and practical training sessions targeted at caregivers of children with CZS, faculty, students, and external participants. The theoretical activities were conducted remotely and accounted for 12 hours, providing educational content for the implementation of motorized mobility for children with CZS. The practical activities for modifying toy cars amounted to 16 hours, resulting in a total of 28 hours of training by the end of the event. At the end of the workshop, participants responded to a feedback questionnaire, which indicated that the vast majority considered the event overall as excellent. The results are encouraging and indicate that the topic of motorized mobility is relevant. The event fostered discussions on the use of adapted toy cars, which can be considered a promising strategy for the participation of children with CZS and other disabilities.
