Acquired syphilis is a sexually transmitted infection considered a significant public health problem in Brazil, especially in the Northeast region of the country. Thus, this study aims to describe the sociodemographic profile of diagnosed cases of this pathology from 2013 to 2023. A descriptive population study was conducted. The selected data are from the Information System for Notifiable Diseases (SINAN), where variables such as sex, age group, race/color, and state in the Northeast were analyzed. Descriptive statistics were performed, calculating absolute and relative frequencies and detection rates of acquired syphilis according to year, location, and sociodemographic characteristics. During the study period, from 2013 to 2023, 188,23 cases of acquired syphilis were recorded in the Northeast, with 2022 having the highest percentage of detections. Consequently, it is highlighted that the vast majority of those affected are between 20 and 39 years old, with a predominance of cases in males, also indicating a higher percentage among the mixed-race (Pardo) population. In terms of geographic distribution, the state of Bahia presented the highest number of cases. The profile found in the study reflects the need for prevention and sexual education strategies targeted at the specific affected groups, according to the reported numbers.
