The high turnover of professionals in Family Health Teams (ESF) represents a significant challenge for maintaining the quality of Primary Health Care (PHC) services. This study, an integrative review conducted in six phases, investigated the reasons behind this turnover and its impacts on the longitudinality of care. After selecting five articles, several reasons for turnover were identified. These include precarious working conditions, excessive working hours, location of units in areas of social risk, termination of contracts and career opportunities in other units or municipalities. These factors contribute to professional dissatisfaction and directly affect the continuity of care offered to the communities served. The impacts of this turnover are equally significant. The interruption of continuity of care results in difficulties in monitoring patients, loss of trust between professionals and users, demotivation of teams and user dissatisfaction. These problems compromise the effectiveness of health programs and adherence to treatment, essential for promoting quality public health. To mitigate these challenges, it is crucial to implement policies that improve working conditions in the ESF, increase professionals' remuneration and offer clear opportunities for career development. Furthermore, strategies aimed at strengthening the work environment and promoting professional retention are essential.
