Body image satisfaction is a complex and dynamic process, characterized by the perception we have about our own image, shaped by the interaction between people who have different values and beliefs and influenced by the media. Adolescence is a period marked by mental, physical, hormonal, functional, affective, and social changes that can impact the practice of physical activity. Therefore, the objective of this study was to investigate the relationship between satisfaction with body image and participation in Physical Education classes according to the Brazilian context. This narrative review analyzed studies published up to September 2023 that assessed satisfaction with body image and its relationship with the practice of Physical Education according to the Brazilian context. The results showed that sociocultural influence, bullying, nutritional status, ethnic-racial differences and sexual diversity were the main aspects that explained the relationship investigated, interacting in a complex way and playing a significant role in body perception and student engagement in classes. In addition, it was possible to realize that students who feel unsafe, unaccepted, or discriminated against due to physical, sexual, or ethnic-racial aspects may face significant barriers to being actively involved in classes. In this context, the articulation between family, Physical Education teacher, pedagogical team and public policies becomes crucial, aiming to establish a safe and welcoming school environment that values diversity and promotes inclusion, enabling all students to feel recognized, accepted and encouraged to fully participate in classes.
