This paper reports on the experience of implementing a listening and emotional support service at a public college, located in Juazeiro-BA, with the aim of promoting the emotional well-being of elementary and high school students. Using the intervention-research methodology, individual counseling sessions and therapeutic groups were conducted between March and November 2024, covering 108 students with issues such as anxiety, depression, self-harm, and grief. Data analysis revealed a higher demand among female adolescents and a peak in attendance among 15-year-old students, reflecting specific vulnerabilities of this age group. The results highlight the importance of preventive practices tailored to students' emotional needs and integrated into the school environment. This account demonstrates that initiatives like the listening and support service are essential to strengthening mental health in public education and require permanent public policies, such as the full implementation of Law No. 13,935/2019, to ensure continuous and effective psychological support in Brazilian schools.
