Abstract

Transplantation is a treatment modality, which may be the only alternative for some patients. There is a careful assessment, by a multidisciplinary team, so that the patient gets in line to receive an organ donation from a living or dead donor. This article aims to discuss the possibilities of interventions and contributions in the multiprofessional approach, weaving a look at the psychological aspects, to patients and donors, inserted in the transplantation and organ donation process, using a literature review. We sought to present the specifics of psychic issues according to the organ to betransplanted by the patient, such as the confrontation of the donor and recipient of a living donor, fantasies, anxieties and fears permeating the decision and reception. The importance of the performance of the entire multidisciplinary team was highlighted, with the psychologist as an essential part in the approach during the entire process and in the post-transplantation process, being a facilitator, organizer and evaluator, effectively contributing to the understanding, elaboration, adherence and support against the lived moment, both for the patient and the donor, favoring adherence and minimizing negative repercussions throughout the organ transplant process.
