The objective of the present article is to discuss tensions in the encounters between graffiti and school, mapping lines of democratization of the artistic making and of society from graffiti in a periphery of Fortaleza-CE, Brazil. Methodologically, this is qualitative research, following the perspective of cartography as a research-intervention method. The results and discussions point to the problematization of the experience of graffiti collectives with youth in peripheral contexts, as the construction of a non-formal education through spaces of youth resistance that permeate social participation and the struggle for the guarantee of social rights, observing the possibilities of graffiti as an artistic technique and device that articulates themes such as: racism, gender equality, poverty and conditions of access to education.
