Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the perception of generations about the support and family support provided and received among them, in multigenerational homes, after recohabitation. For this analysis, the Social Train Model by Robert Louis Kahn and Toni Claudette Antonucci was used as a theoretical reference. This model understands that, throughout life, people are protected by receiving and providing support from their social relationships and these relationships contribute to coping with the challenges of people's life cycle. This is a qualitative study, carried out through empirical research, in which 9 participants from 3 multigenerational families were interviewed, one from each generation. The results showed that all participants included family members with whom they lived in multigenerational homes in their social support network. However, there were differences in the perception of proximity and exchanges of social support between them.

Cristina Maria de Souza Brito Dias, Universidade Católica de Pernambuco (UNICAP)

Possui doutorado em Psicologia pela Universidade de Brasília (1995),mestrado em Psicologia também pela Universidade de Brasília (1983) e graduação em Psicologia pela Universidade Católica de Pernambuco - UNICAP (1975). Possui especialização em Terapia Familiar e de Casal (1992 a 1994) e residência clínica na Clínica Pinel de Porto Alegre (1976 e 1977). É professora adjunto IV, aposentada, da Universidade Federal da Paraíba. Atualmente é professora adjunto IV da Universidade Católica de Pernambuco (UNICAP). Tem experiência em pesquisa na área de Psicologia, com ênfase em Psicologia Clínica (Casal e Família) e Desenvolvimento Humano, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: família, relação avós-netos, relacionamento intergeracional, adoção e envelhecimento. É membro do grupo de pesquisa e linha de pesquisa Família, Interação Social e Saúde, da UNICAP. Membro do grupo da ANPEPP Casal e Família: estudos psicossociais e psicoterapia.
