The pursuit of a better quality of life for the elderly population is an increasingly debated concern. Initiatives and actions have been directed towards promoting healthier aging, and one example of this is educational approaches tailored for the elderly population. In light of this, the aim of this study was to compare the quality of life between elderly individuals who attend and those who do not attend an University for the Elderly People. This study is characterized as a quantitative descriptive-comparative longitudinal type. It involved 38 participants divided into two groups, control and intervention. All participants were part of the general population of the city of Curitiba, Paraná, aged 60 years or older. Quality of life was assessed using the WHOQOL BREF and WHOQOL-OLD questionnaires. According to inferential analysis, participation in the University for the Elderly People resulted in improvements in the perception of quality of life, with significant differences observed in most of the evaluated domains. Therefore, the study revealed that participation in programs such as UAPI is associated with significant improvements in the self-perception of the quality of life in older individuals.
