EXPERIENCES IN DIALOGUE ON MENTAL HEALTH BUILT WITH HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS

Abstract

This experience report aims to share reflections, based on the universitary extension Acolher. The project’s objective was to, through group meetings with High School seniors in a state school of Fortaleza, create space for dialogue, considering a scenery in which the educational model suffers transformations in occasion of the COVID-19 pandemic and the current economic model, in addition to the colonial practices intricate to the country’s history. Theoretical and methodologically, studies in Scholar/Educacional Psychology were considered, in addition to reflections upon the the reality of High School in Brasil and Education as a right. For the construction of this report, field journals about the activity and its effects on both the extensionists and the students were analyzed. It was possible to identify aspects of the student’s high school experience, particularly, in their last year. The student’s collective productions during the meetings were also analyzed. Elements such as overload, their relationships with themselves, families, friends and other dedications, like hobbies, were highlighted, along with the ways in which they were impacted by their preparations for the final year’s exams, which were explored considering constituents of their subjectivation process such as socio economic and historical markers. It was observed the potency of mental health interventions that tensionate institutional scholar aspects and promote listening to the students, in order to comprehend in an intricate way the different determinants of the educational contemporary demands, in the interseccion of Psychology and Education. Furthermore, it was ascertained that there were particularities and limitations in the performed activity, launching ponderings and challenges to the psychological actuation in promoting healthcare in the scholar routines and communities.
