This research aimed to produce analyses of school failure from an interventional, inventive, and participatory perspective. We elected as participants members of the teaching staff and a group of students from a public school located in a city in the interior of the state of Tocantins. We use Intervention Research as a methodological strategy in conjunction with Institutional Analysis tools, supported by theoretical clues from the philosophy of difference and formulations made by Michel Foucault. Throughout the research journey, we carried out bibliographical surveys and promoted interventions in conjunction with teaching and extension activities. In the intervention with the teaching staff, we problematize the logic of blame carried by scientific and media discourses that distort reality by neglecting the complexity and diversity of forces linked to the production of school failure. The approach was guided by the necessary respect and care so as not to make the mistake of blaming teachers for the problems that challenge the school community. During the meetings with students, we promote participation through interactive and creative activities. On that occasion, we saw mobilizations of affection with the potential to boost the development of the target audience. However, we record the circulation of paralyzing affection that denounces anguish, fear, oppression, and violence in the school context. Future interventional research will be carried out to intensify knowledge production processes in conjunction with developing participatory, creative, and inventive actions in School and Educational Psychology.
