COVID-19 is a disease that is spreading worldwide and is highly infectious and transmissible, especially in the relationship between healthcare professionals and their patients. Therefore, personal protective equipment (PPE) and 70% alcohol increase the safety of the hospital environment and are means of prevention since, until December 2020, there was no vaccination available and, even with this, personal protection continues to be important to prevent transmissibility. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate the increase in the monthly consumption of PPE and alcohol from January 2020 to June 2021 in a Polyclinic of the City Hall of Recife. The study was observational and retrospective. The data were obtained from requests from the various sectors of the Unit to the Pharmacy, evaluating the consumption of PPE and 70% alcohol, used by healthcare professionals at the Polyclinic under study. An increase in prices was evidenced, except for G gloves and shoe covers, which remained at the same price as before the pandemic. In addition to growth in the monthly consumption flow of supplies, with significant fluctuations. However, there was an increase in the consumption of caps, but over the months they obtained more stability of variation, unlike the others. Thus, even with the lack of supplies in some months, there was the replacement of supplies or reuse in accordance with the protocols as a way to guarantee the quality of the service provided safely to health professionals.
