The transformations in the world of work have been intense, driven by globalization, which promotes increasing flexibility of processes. The research aims to understand the processes of precariousness of seamstresses in the home-based work environment from the perspective of social representations. Exploratory and descriptive study, with a qualitative approach, using Juan Samaja's social reproduction of health, in the economic-technoeconomic and biocommunal dimensions with seamstresses in the home environment in Santa Cruz do Capibaribe/PE. Observations and 20 semi-structured interviews were carried out between October 2023 and April 2024. This work presents evidence, regarding biocommunal reproduction, that members reproduce their living conditions as social organisms. In the productive activity of clothing, several risks arise during the development of work and these factors can lead to health problems. In the technoeconomic dimension, the findings reveal a great precariousness of the workforce in the home environment, resulting in important social problems. In this productive context, informality, outsourcing, subcontracting, low qualifications and intense working hours stand out, which extend beyond sewing activities, also including domestic tasks. The results found can support managers and health professionals, and can direct measures to minimize the process of illness among the working population and their families, being an important instrument for local governance.
