In an educational scenario that is constantly changing, driven by digitalization and new teaching methodologies such as gamification and simulation, the question arises: how are these approaches being properly applied in the teaching of fundamental health subjects, such as pathology, to meet the needs of digitally native students and promote a more engaging and effective education? This scoping review aims to map the impact of gamification and simulation strategies in teaching pathology to healthcare students in the literature. The research was conducted in five stages, including formulation of the guiding research question, identification and selection of relevant studies, data mapping, collection and description of findings, and dissemination of results. The analysis revealed a gap in the production of research on the subject, with a predominance of studies focused on medical training. There is a need to consider other health degrees, highlighting the inequality in the supply and distribution of gamification tools in the teaching of pathology. The results point to a prevalence of the use of Kahoot! as a gamification tool, followed by innovative strategies such as simulation and virtual reality. In addition, extension projects were identified that aim to establish a connection between academia and society, reinforcing academic concepts in an accessible way. In conclusion, this study highlights the need for continuous development of new strategies in the teaching of pathology, with the aim of promoting more effective and engaging education for health students. Keywords: gamification, simulation, pathology.
