ATIVIDADE ANTIOXIDANTE DE ÓLEOS ESSENCIAS DA FAMÍLIA MYRTACEAE PELO MÉTODO DE DPPH: UMA REVISÃO DE LITERATURA

Abstract

O estresse oxidativo corresponde a um desequilíbrio entre agentes oxidantes e antioxidantes, que levam ao predomínio de espécies reativas de oxigênio e como resultante podem provocar danos celulares e contribuir para o desenvolvimento de doenças e envelhecimento. Os óleos essenciais (OEs) constitui-se de uma mistura de compostos voláteis extraídos de plantas aromáticas que tem sido correlacionado ao efeito antioxidante. O presente estudo consiste numa revisão de literatura sobre a atividade antioxidante de OEs de espécies da família Myrtaceae avaliados pelo método de DPPH e os componentes majoritários correlacionados a inibição oxidante. Foram selecionados 16 artigos de acordo com os critérios de inclusão nas plataformas de banco de dados Pubmed, Sciene Sirect e Google Scholar. Os OEs da família Myrtaceae apresentaram potencial antioxidante e o método de DPPH demonstrou-se promissor na avaliação do efeito antioxidante de OEs. Os componentes majoritários mais prevalentes entre as espécies abordadas foram os monoterpenos. O estudo de compostos bioativos com princípios antioxidantes são de grande importância para a desenvolvimento de tratamentos e prevenção ao estresse oxidativo.
