Suicide is considered an intentional and conscious act, in which the individual uses a means that he believes to be lethal with the objective of taking his own life. Its occurrence is related to several factors such as environmental, social, psychological, genetic and cultural, affecting not only the subject, but his family, friends and society as a whole. From this perspective, carrying out the early identification and assessment of the risk of suicide is a fundamental practice for prevention. Based on the theoretical framework on this topic, we sought to discuss and highlight the management of patients at risk of suicide and the psychological approach, integrated into the multidisciplinary team. It was concluded the importance of the approach of the specialist team, in the attempts, in the identification and evaluation of the risks, in the interventions carried out seeking to strengthen the protective factors, reduce the risk factors and enable access to the adequate mental health network for treatment. By integrating this team, the psychologist approaches the patient and family, enabling comprehensive care for people in situations of suicide, preventing the risk of suicide and promoting mental health care.Downloads
