This article articulates two master's research projects in the field of psychology that explore issues of gender and sexuality, highlighting them as participatory research carried out in schools in the city of Fortaleza/CE. The general objective is to discuss the decolonial practices of participatory research in everyday school life, carried out through the Institutional Program for Scientific Initiation Scholarships - Secondary Education (PIBIC-EM), which investigates issues of gender and sexuality. It uses COM research and cartography as a participatory research-intervention method. The research highlighted the importance of the collaborative approach between university researchers and high school students, recognized as co-researchers, resulting in work that reflected on and articulated the realities experienced at school. It also highlighted the need to decolonize research, promoting knowledge from school contexts and challenging hegemonic narratives. The collective experience demonstrated the power of participatory research to question and transform traditional practices and knowledge in education.
