The epidemiological profile of patients provides physiotherapists with knowledge of the health conditions that most affect the population and assists in the construction and planning of care. The purpose of this study was to define the epidemiological and clinical profile of patients treated by physiotherapy at the medical clinic of a public hospital in the Federal District, between 2013 and 2015. This is a cross-sectional, quantitative and descriptive-observational study based on data collected through evaluation forms carried out during the Prevention of Orthopedic Deformities in People with Physical Disabilities project belonging to the Health Work Education Program. The studied population consisted of individuals of both sexes admitted to the Regional Hospital of Ceilândia, evaluated during the project period. The results showed a prevalence of males (62.06%), aged 60 years or over (58.62%), white ethnicity, low education, single / widowed and sedentary. As for pre-existing diseases, arterial hypertension was more prevalent (51.72%), followed by diabetes mellitus (25.86%) and heart disease (12.06%). Among the causes of hospitalizations, the prevalence of stroke was evident (48.27%), followed by pneumonia (25.87%). An epidemiological profile can be seen: male, elderly, white, single / widowed, sedentary, with complete elementary education, with arterial hypertension among pre-existing diseases and family history of diseases and who denied smoking and drinking, and clinical profile with prevalence of stroke as a cause of hospitalization. The study has epidemiological and clinical information, contributing to optimize management, conduct planning and health actions.
