ABSTRACT
Cafeteria workers are essential professionals in the production of school feeding and engage in activities with varying degrees of complexity related to meal preparation. However, the descriptions of the requirements for assuming the position do not seem to be clearly articulated in the selection processes. In light of this, the present study analyzed selection and hiring notices for cafeteria workers regarding job characterization, salary, and required responsibilities for working in public schools in the municipalities of the State of Rio de Janeiro. Through a documentary analysis of selection notices from 2018 to 2022, this qualitative and quantitative cross-sectional study identified gaps in information such as work hours, educational qualifications, salary, and responsibilities of activities to be performed upon candidate approval. Thus, there is a noted need for discussions and debates regarding the structure and clarity of the information contained in the notices, with the aim of facilitating the proper execution of activities inherent to the cafeteria workers' roles in compliance with the regulations and objectives of public school feeding policies.
