Violence is a complex and multifactorial phenomenon that affects multiple aspects of life and health, being recognized as a major public health issue. In Dentistry, its relevance emerges both through orofacial injuries resulting from assaults and through the strategic role of dentists in the early detection of violence cases. This study aimed to analyze how the topic of violence is addressed in academic output from Brazilian graduate programs in Dentistry. A narrative review was conducted by examining theses and dissertations available in CAPES’ Sucupira Platform, defended between 2020 and 2024, using the keyword "violence". From 7739 identified works, 29 met the inclusion criteria and were qualitatively analyzed. The results show a predominance of quantitative studies focusing on physical violence against women and children, with limited use of critical theoretical frameworks. Mandatory reporting and Dentistry’s role are only superficially addressed, revealing gaps in professional training and alignment with public policies. It is concluded that there is a need to expand the approach to violence in graduate Dentistry programs, fostering a critical, interdisciplinary, and equity-oriented perspective aligned with human rights.
