The role of the clinical pharmacist in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is of utmost importance to ensure safety, effectiveness, and quality of drug therapy for critically ill patients. In this context, this integrative review aimed to identify and discuss the clinical services provided by pharmacists in ICUs. To this end, an integrative review of scientific literature from the past 10 years on PubMed was conducted. After analyzing scientific production according to inclusion and exclusion criteria, eleven articles were retrieved. The performance of various types of clinical pharmaceutical services was identified, with particular emphasis on pharmacotherapeutic monitoring, which was the most clearly mentioned category in the studies analyzed. According to the description of activities in the articles, the development of health education services, therapeutic drug monitoring, medication reconciliation, and pharmacotherapy review were also discussed as integral elements of the pharmacotherapeutic follow-up process.
