THE REALITY OF CONGENITAL HEART DISEASE IN THE STATE OF TOCANTINS: A CURRENT ANALYSIS

This study analyzed the prevalence of congenital heart diseases in the state of Tocantins between 2019 and 2023, using both quantitative and qualitative approaches. The research utilized data from the Live Births Information System (SINASC) and a literature review on platforms such as PUBMED and LILACS. A total of 111 cases of congenital heart diseases were identified, with the highest number of records in 2023 (32 cases). The Capim Dourado health region reported the highest number of cases (80). The most affected ethnicity was parda (mixed-race), with 70 cases, and the majority of births occurred between the 37th and 40th week of gestation (55 cases). Prenatal care was classified as more than adequate in 53 cases. This study is relevant to public health in Tocantins, providing data on the prevalence and characteristics of congenital heart diseases in the region, contributing to the formulation of health policies.
