ENADE plays a crucial role in evaluating the quality of higher education courses. Therefore, it is essential to analyze the evolution of grades of students in the Dentistry course at the University of Pernambuco (UPE). Quantitative study aiming to analyze the 2010 and 2019 ENADE reports from the Santo Amaro/FOP and Arcoverde courses, considering the number of participants, academic performance and averages in the general and specific training components. The results indicated high student participation (97%) and a reduction in the absentee rate in the most recent editions (2016 and 2019). The average overall performance grades for UPE Dentistry courses exceeded the national average, with differences of 7.4 and 9.2 points in the general and specific training components, respectively. The specific component performed better, with a difference of around 12 points in 2016 and 2019 compared to 2010 and 2013, reflecting the national trend. It is concluded that the averages of UPE courses showed positive and linear evolution, surpassing the national average. The emphasis on technical knowledge reinforces the quality of specific training, but suggests the need for greater appreciation of broad themes, essential for the training of critical, ethical and socially engaged professionals.
