Based on the concept of place as circumstantiality proposed by Marandola Jr. (2014), we understand the school as a dynamic place that is constructed based on circumstantialities of being-in-the-world, reflecting the constant interaction between the various conditions and contexts that shape educational experiences and human relationships, especially their conflicts. This article aims to understand the circumstances that are experienced in the mediation of conflicts in school territory. This is qualitative research, in which a bibliographical review was carried out, through the production of the state of the art on “school mediation” and “school conflict”. The analyzed productions indicate that the reasons for school conflicts are diverse, as are the factors involving school mediation, taken in this production as circumstantialities, namely: the need to review the relationship with learning by students; to issues of micro-violence experienced outside the school context and which impact learning; the role of the teacher as conflict mediator; aspects of public policies that involve teacher training on the organizational climate, and; the demands of Inclusive Education as a mediation responsibility for teachers. It is concluded that understanding the school as a dynamic place that is constructed based on circumstantialities of being-in-the-world, allows reflection on the different conditions and contexts that shape human relationships in their educational experiences, and the ways in which mediation school can come to fruition.
